CCW Fees

New CCW License

Various fees associated with obtaining a CCW license are collected at three separate times: fingerprinting, application submission, and CCW license issuance.  

Fees paid are not refundable at any stage of the application process.

Standard CCW License $938, valid for 2 years

  • $93 Note, this does not include a service fee charged by the agency which performs the Livescan service.  This amount is collected in full at the time the applicant is fingerprinted.  The fee is comprised of $93 for the DOJ and FBI Livescan Reports plus the DOJ Firearm Eligibility Report. These fees are non-refundable and have no bearing on the issuance or denial of a CCW license.
  • $422.50 Initial fee to be paid through Permitium at the time the application is submitted.  This fee is comprised of a percentage of city fees related to cost recovery.  
  • $422.50 Issuance fee to be paid through Permitium by applicants who are issued their CCW license.  This fee is the balance the city charges related to the recovery of cost and/or processing, issuing the license, and enforcing the license [PC 26190(b)(1)].     

Judge, Magistrate, Full-time Commissioner $960, valid for 3 years

  • $115 Note, this does not include a service fee charged by the agency which performs the Livescan service.  This amount is collected in full at the time the applicant is fingerprinted.  The fee is comprised of $115 for the DOJ and FBI Livescan Reports plus the DOJ Firearm Eligibility Report. These fees are non-refundable and have no bearing on the issuance or denial of a CCW license.
  • $422.50 Initial fee to be paid through Permitium at the time the application is submitted.  This fee is comprised of a percentage of city fees related to cost recovery.  
  • $422.50 Issuance fee to be paid through Permitium by applicants who are issued their CCW license.  This fee is the balance the city charges related to the recovery of cost and/or processing, issuing the license, and enforcing the license [PC 26190(b)(1)].     

Reserve Peace or Custodial Officer $982, valid for 4 years

  • $137 Note, this does not include a service fee charged by the agency which performs the Livescan service.  This amount is collected in full at the time the applicant is fingerprinted.  The fee is comprised of $137 for the DOJ and FBI Livescan Reports plus the DOJ Firearm Eligibility Report. These fees are non-refundable and have no bearing on the issuance or denial of a CCW license.
  • $422.50 Initial fee to be paid through Permitium at the time the application is submitted.  This fee is comprised of a percentage of city fees related to cost recovery.
  • $422.50 Issuance fee to be paid through Permitium by applicants who are issued their CCW license.  This fee is the balance the city charges related to the recovery of cost and/or processing, issuing the license, and enforcing the license [PC 26190(b)(1)].     

Renewal CCW License

A CCW license renewal application must be submitted to the department that issued the current license.  As follows, the Morgan Hill Police Department will only renew current CCW Licenses which were issued by this department.

CA DOJ fees are collected at the time of submitting a renewal application through Permitium. Half of the agency processing fee is also collected at that time with the balance collected for those applicants who are approved for a renewal license.    

Standard Renewal CCW License $601, valid for 2 years

  • $326.50 Initial fee to be paid through Permitium at the time the application is submitted.  This fee is comprised of a percentage of city fees related to cost recovery and $52 CA DOJ fees.  
  • $274.50 Issuance fee to be paid through Permitium by applicants who are issued their CCW license.  This fee is the balance the city charges related to the recovery of cost and/or processing, issuing the license, and enforcing the license [PC 26190(b)(1)].     

Judge, Magistrate, Full-time Commissioner $623, valid for 3 years

  • $348.50 Initial fee to be paid through Permitium at the time the application is submitted.  This fee is comprised of a percentage of city fees related to cost recovery and $74 CA DOJ fees.  
  • $274.50 Issuance fee to be paid through Permitium by applicants who are issued their CCW license.  This fee is the balance the city charges related to the recovery of cost and/or processing, issuing the license, and enforcing the license [PC 26190(b)(1)].     

Reserve Peace or Custodial Officer $645, valid for 4 years

  • $370.50 Initial fee to be paid through Permitium at the time the application is submitted.  This fee is comprised of a percentage of city fees related to cost recovery and $96 CA DOJ fees.
  • $274.50 Issuance fee to be paid through Permitium by applicants who are issued their CCW license.  This fee is the balance the city charges related to the recovery of cost and/or processing, issuing the license, and enforcing the license [PC 26190(b)(1)].
