Trial Dog Park

The City’s Parks and Recreation Commission has a goal of identifying potential neighborhood dog parks to support residents’ desires to allow their pets to run off leash and to discourage dogs being taken off leash in general areas of parks. The first site identified by the Commission is at Diana Park. However, after discussion with the neighborhood the Parks and Recreation Commission has determined the site is not best suited for the potential off leash dog park.

City staff and the Commission have found an alternative off leash area behind the new Butterfield Fire Station. The City will be implementing a trial dog park in this location (PDF) starting October 8, 2025. The dog park will have very basic amenities including a fenced area, double gate entry, trash can, mutt mitt dispenser and mulch as ground cover.

During the trial period residents can provide comments online. Positive or negative, we want your comments and feedback.
