Fire Suppression/EMS Response Standards
Initial first alarm responses for the City of Morgan Hill are based on a closest resource / full “boundary drop” system. Through this contract, response times in the southern portions of the City of Morgan Hill will be decreased by the realignment of the response zones, while maintaining the same response times in the remainder of the City. The first unit dispatched will arrive in 8 minutes 95% of the time. Initial response for all fire department calls for service will originate from the El Toro Fire Station (St 4) , Dunne Hill Fire Station(St.5), and/or CAL FIRE/South Santa Clara County Fire District Station (St.1).
Each Morgan Hill Fire Station and South Santa Clara County Fire Station has a daily minimum staffing level of 3 personnel consisting of One (1) Fire Captain, One (1) Engineer (FAE), and One (1) Engineer Paramedic (FAEP). Each of these employees has an average of 3 to 20 years of structural firefighting, wildland firefighting, emergency medical service and rescue response experience.
CAL FIRE has been providing Advanced Life Support/Paramedic Services in the South Santa Clara County Fire District since 1999.
The ladder truck located at El Toro is cross-staffed by personnel at that station and will respond based on call type from time of dispatch.
Chief Officer Coverage for the City consists of a minimum of One (1) Battalion Chief assigned 24/7.
